Parker Waichman LLP Files Lawsuit on behalf of Texas Resident Alleging Development of Irreversible Eye Condition, NAION, after taking Mounjaro

PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y., Nov. 2, 2026
Parker Waichman, a national law firm, has now filed multiple lawsuits where each Plaintiff alleged that he or she developed NAION after taking a GLP-1 medication, including Eli Lilly’s Mounjaro.
PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y., Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Parker Waichman has now filed multiple lawsuits on behalf of victims who were prescribed GLP-1 receptor agonist medications, including Mounjaro, and developed NAION, an irreversible eye condition that causes partial or complete permanent vision loss in one or both eyes. Most recently, on October 29, 2026, the Firm filed a lawsuit on behalf of a Texas resident who developed NAION after taking Mounjaro. See Swinney v. Eli Lilly and Company, Docket No: 2:26-cv-08305.
Parker Waichman continues to file additional cases and urges individuals who have suffered serious eye injuries after taking these widely prescribed GLP-1 medications to contact them for a free case review. Mounjaro (tirzepatide), originally developed to treat Type 2 diabetes, has surged in popularity, and the same active ingredient is marketed by Eli Lilly as Zepbound for weight loss. However, NAION, a condition that causes permanent vision loss by cutting off blood flow to the optic nerve, has been reported in patients taking GLP-1 medications, raising concerns about the failure of drug manufacturers to warn consumers and medical professionals about this risk.
Regulators outside the United States have already acted. On June 23, 2026, Health Canada updated the Product Monograph for Mounjaro to include NAION safety information. On July 23, 2026, Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) announced NAION-related updates to the Product Information for GLP-1 receptor agonists, including Mounjaro, advising that NAION has been reported in patients treated with these medications and that sudden vision loss should prompt urgent ophthalmologic evaluation.
The lawsuit alleges that, despite this growing body of evidence, Eli Lilly failed to adequately warn patients and physicians in the United States about the risk of NAION and permanent vision loss associated with Mounjaro.
Parker Waichman LLP Fights for Victims Nationwide
“NAION is a devastating, and permanent, eye injury diagnosis. Regulators abroad have already moved to alert physicians and patients to NAION in connection with tirzepatide. Patients in the United States deserved that same warning, and Eli Lilly must be held accountable,” said Jason S. Goldstein, Senior Litigation Counsel at Parker Waichman LLP and Co-Chair of the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee in the federal GLP-1 NAION multidistrict litigation, MDL 3163.
Parker Waichman LLP is currently accepting cases nationwide for individuals who have suffered vision loss, blindness, or serious optic nerve damage after taking Mounjaro, Zepbound, Ozempic, Wegovy, or other GLP-1 medications. Victims may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages.
