Round Top Family Library Receives $1 Million Gift Honoring Virginia Waldvogel

Anonymous gift supports library improvements and the creation of The Virginia House, a community space honoring life and legacy of Virginia “Buzzy” Waldvogel

ROUND TOP, TX, UNITED STATES, October 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Round Top Family Library (RTFL) is honored to announce an extraordinary $1 million gift from an anonymous donor in loving memory of Virginia “Buzzy” Waldvogel, a beloved member of the Round Top community whose life embodied the values of education, friendship, and community.

This remarkable act of generosity is both an investment in the future of Round Top Family Library and a heartfelt tribute to a woman whose life left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

A portion of this generous gift has already been used to help bring the Library’s newly constructed Children’s Wing to completion and fund important enhancements throughout the Library campus. These improvements represent another significant milestone in RTFL’s ongoing commitment to creating welcoming and inspiring spaces where community members of all ages can learn, connect, and grow.

At the heart of this extraordinary gift is an especially meaningful tribute: the creation of The Virginia House.

Affectionately known as “Buzzy,” Virginia Waldvogel was a much-loved resident of Round Top whose warmth, wonderful sense of humor, generous spirit, and gift for friendship endeared her to so many. She had a special way of bringing people together and finding joy in the simple pleasures of life in a close-knit community.

Virginia held a special affection for Round Top Family Library and the important role it plays in the life of the community she loved. In celebration of Virginia’s life and the values she held dear, a portion of this extraordinary gift will be dedicated to transforming the Library’s existing Annex into The Virginia House — a welcoming space envisioned to bring people together.

The vision for The Virginia House includes thoughtfully updating and enhancing the existing Annex to create more versatile spaces for educational programming, community gatherings, and shared experiences. As plans are developed, the focus will remain on creating a warm, welcoming environment that reflects Virginia’s love of learning, friendship, and community while supporting the Library’s evolving needs for generations to come.

More than a renovation, The Virginia House will be a living tribute to Virginia’s spirit — a place where friendships are formed, knowledge is shared, laughter is heard, and the bonds of community continue to grow.

The gift will also support the Library’s broader vision for the future, including expanded educational opportunities, greater community outreach, and initiatives designed to strengthen RTFL’s long-term sustainability and impact.

“This extraordinary gift is about so much more than buildings and improvements,” said Katey Crowley, Executive Director of Round Top Family Library. “It is about honoring a very special woman by creating opportunities for others to experience the same sense of friendship, belonging, and community that meant so much to her. We are profoundly grateful for this remarkable generosity and for the privilege of creating a lasting tribute to Virginia that will touch lives for generations to come.”

As Round Top Family Library continues to grow and evolve, this transformational gift will help ensure that its mission of enriching lives through learning, literacy, and community connection continues well into the future.

A beloved friend remembered. A community strengthened. A legacy that will live on.
