Long-time financial leader assumes expanded executive role as CSWR continues to grow and strengthen its financial operations
ST. LOUIS, MO, UNITED STATES, October 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Central States Water Resources (CSWR), 10th largest investor-owned water and wastewater utility in the United States and the nation’s largest owner and operator of domestic wastewater treatment systems, today announced that Brent Thies has been named Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Since joining CSWR in 2017 as a senior accountant, Thies has helped build and strengthen the company’s financial organization during a period of extraordinary growth. Over that time, CSWR has experienced a 100-fold increase in equivalent residential units (ERUs) and a 70-fold increase in revenue. Throughout this expansion, Thies has assumed increasingly senior leadership responsibilities, helping guide the company’s evolving financial operations.
“Brent has been instrumental in building the financial foundation that has supported our growth,” said Josiah Cox, President and Founder of CSWR. “He brings sound financial judgement, a deep understanding of our business, and a proven ability to build strong teams. His leadership will be essential as we continue to scale our operations and position the company for long-term success.”
Most recently serving as Senior Vice President and Corporate Controller, Thies has overseen key financial functions, including accounting, financial reporting, regulatory financial reporting, audits, and tax compliance. His leadership has helped strengthen the financial systems, processes, and capabilities needed to support CSWR’s increasingly complex operations.
As CFO, Thies will assume broader responsibility for the company’s financial strategy and operations, helping align financial planning, capital investment, and organizational priorities with CSWR’s continued growth and long-term objectives.
“It’s been a remarkable experience to be part of CSWR’s evolution over the past nine years,” said Thies. “I’m proud of what our team has accomplished and the financial organization we’ve built together. I’m grateful for the opportunity to take on this expanded role and I look forward to helping guide the company’s continued growth and success.”
A Certified Public Accountant, Thies brings experience in public accounting and corporate finance and has played a key role in developing the high-performing financial teams and capabilities supporting CSWR’s continued growth. He was previously promoted to Vice President and Corporate Controller in 2022.
Today, CSWR owns and operates more than 1,000 regulated water and wastewater systems serving over 500,000 customers across 11 states.
